If you have an access path that matches your selection and sort criteria, try
compiling this with option ALWCPYDTA(*YES). If you don't have an access path,
the one recommended by the query optimizer is usually a good place to start.

Subject: Improve SQLRPGLE performance

Hi group,

I made an inquiry SQLRPGLE program where I have to do a count of records
in a file, whereby one of the group-by fields is the date portion of a
timestamp field. The data is presented in a panelgroup application.

The performance, when running in production over a 600.000-record file, is
very VERY bad.

When I debug the program, it says that arrival sequence is used to build
the access path.

Is there a way to improve the performance, such as by creating an index
that has only the date portion of the timestamp field?

Thanks in advance.
