Well, I'm pushing beyond my actual experience here, but my understanding is that PASE is (after V5R1) simply a no-charge LP (on the install media), that adds the AIX runtime to OS400. It works pretty much like QSHell, and offers support for AIX binaries. I don't think you can compile an object in PASE, but since the download site offers an AIX binary, that shouldn't be necessary. PASE would by default work within the IFS..... Eric DeLong Sally Beauty Company MIS-Project Manager (BSG) 940-898-7863 or ext. 1863 -----Original Message----- From: Bartell, Aaron L. I just read a little about it after I saw your post, otherwise I have zero knowledge. If it is easy then I would love to have that implemented as a method to get CVS installed! Does PASE have access to the IFS (where I will be storing my RPG)? Not sure... Eric DeLong Sally Beauty Company MIS-Project Manager (BSG) 940-898-7863 or ext. 1863 -----Original Message----- From: Bartell, Aaron L. I guess that rules that one out :-) I haven't ever setup a CVS server (iSeries or other platform) I have only used them, so maybe I should just take a running jump at installing it on the IFS and see if I can run it manually from Qshell. Maybe I will hit up the WDSc list to see if anybody has done this from that perspective (maybe for Java code). I THINK that what you're looking for is a CVS server that will run on the iSeries, one that you can connect to using WDSC. If, however, you're truly looking for a client, then where are you going to run the server? I haven't seen any Java CVS servers.
