Come to think of it, when you wrote your print file instructions for the 4224, didn't the lines always end with a ' ; ' delimiter? Maybe the same IBM programmer who wrote the /FREE compiler wrote the printronix stuff too..... Or maybe it was '}'. I don't remember anymore. It could have been ' }; ' We didn't get our printronix to do bar coding originally. But we wound up using them for that, and yes they were pretty slow. That reminds me, prior to the PC deal I actually programmed bar code stuff for a 4224 (I think it was) and man was THAT a dog to print :-) We really HAVE come a long way ! Who said printronix? We had three of those attached to our Sys38 before we had PC's. I did have a color monitor - but it was still just a ws. Is the brand still out there? I vaguely remember one RPG program I did that wrote a printer file where the column headings were at a 45 degree angle on the page. It was quite amazing - at least to us. :) Fred Underwood North American Stainless (502) 347-6187 mailto:funderwood@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx -- This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
