Hello, > Has anybody used asynchronous IO api along with socket api to create a > socket server program before? If so, is it possible to do it in RPG? > Can you send me an example? I believe that the Async I/O functions require a language that can support threads. Since RPG cannot run in multiple threads, you can't use this API in RPG. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. The normal sockets API can be used without problems in RPG -- just the Async I/O functions won't work without a threaded language. (I don't consider the Async I/O functions to be "normal" sockets functions since they don't exist on other platforms, whereas the basic sockets functions, socket(), connect(), bind(), listen(), accept(), select(), etc appear on every platform that I know of, and are a "de-facto standard.") IF you want information about using the normal sockets functions in ILE RPG, you can read about them on my web site: http://www.scottklement.com/rpg/socktut/
