We just use wrapper functions, define the name of the external ILE function as an API with impl name with impl no and call the API from the wrapper.

Its good to see I am not the only one on this list who knows what Obsydian and Synon are!

When obsydion first came out, it had classes which emulated most if not
all of the synon:2e function types. I don't know of that would extend to
the *USRPGM (User Program) function or not, but if so you could write your
program in ILE and define it to the model as a User Program, and off you
