Two suggestions: 1) In debug, look at sqlstatement to make certain there is a properly formed statement. I catch a lot of my oopsies this way. 2) Check the value of SQLSTT after the PREPARE FROM: C/EXEC SQL C+ PREPARE S1 FROM :sqlstatement C/END-EXEC if sqlstt <> '00000' // uh-oh...
