I suspect that the reason it double spaces the records is because of the attribute byte for the field in position 1 or the subfile record. It's in the last position of the previous line on the screen. I had an occasion once to want a double-spaces subfile, and accomplished it by putting a 2-byte hidden field in the last position of a subfile record.
