Change the prototype for the seconds parameter to specify VALUE rather than CONST. C expects all parameters to be passed by value (except 'special' things like arrays and strings (which are just arrays anyway--and arrays are treated like pointers so C really passes the address of the array by value so now we come full circle. Man! C sucks).


You are passing seconds by constant reference (i.e., as a pointer) to the seconds value but sleep() is interpreting the first 4 bytes of the pointer as an integer and goes to sleep for a very long time since the first 4 bytes of a space pointer is something like 08000000 (which is approximately 2222 hours).
