In RPGII (Sys/36) it will use a filename like "program name + FM" no
matter what you call the file on your F-spec.

I haven't done a program described file since RPGII, has that behavior
changed? (I hope it has!)

I haven't worked in the S/36 (real or emulated) in many years. The crap I have to work with is RPGIII code written like it was RPGII.

In the iSeries / AS/400 environment, program-described files use the file name given in the program; they do not go making up their own name.

At no point did Booth say that he was working in a S/36 environment of any kind; at least not that I saw.
