Don't know if this is 'the best way' but how about something like this:

D system PR 10i 0 extproc('system')
executes a command
D cmd * value options(*string)

C Eval RC = system('SIGNOFF LOG(*LIST)')

 | Subject: how best to end an interactive job
 |
 |
 | I have a srvpgm which swaps user profiles. It is used by
 | interactive pgms. It swaps, does a task, then swaps back.
 | If for any reason the profile can't swap back, I want to
 | sign the user off and create a joblog.
 |
 | What's the best way to do that?
