when you say F11 is still active, do you mean that F11still folds and/or
drops your subfile?  or just that you can press it and it doesn't lock your
keyboard?

also, what controls whether *in10 is on or not?

I'm not sure why F11 is still allowed, (is it listed as a file level
keyword in the source before your first record format?).  if it allows you
to press it, but doesn't fold or drop the subfile, what happens then?  does
control return to your program (just after the EXFMT)?
