Hi Bill, If I understand what you've got there, yes, it looks like it should work. To make it a little cleaner, you could leave off the EXTMBR keyword since you appear to always be dealing with the *FIRST member. And afaik, you don't have to put the *LIBL/ on the file name, so you could actually have: fFileName if e k disk fFile1 if e k disk extfile(DRKY) usropn d varFileName s 21a d varMbrName s 10a D Qcmdexc pr Extpgm('QCMDEXC') D Cmd Like(Qcmd) Options(*Varsize) Cons D Len 15p 5 Const D Opt 3 Options(*NoPass) Const D Qcmd s 3000 C Setll FileName C READ FileName C Dow not %Eof C Eval Qcmd = 'CLRPFM FILE('+ %trim(DRKY) + ')' C CallP(E) Qcmdexc(Qcmd:%Len(%Trim(Qcmd))) c open File1 ..........presumably some processing of File1 here .................... c close File1 C READ FileName C Enddo Peter Dow Dow Software Services, Inc. 909 793-9050 voice 909 793-4480 fax 909 522-3214 cell --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
