I really don't find it a PITA. Like I said, I keep a 'favorites' there. Hasn't failed me in over a year. It's just like setup in Book Manager used to be. You had to load something on a disk drive and tell everyone where to map a drive, didn't you? Now it's even easier, you just email a link and tell them to store it in their favorites.
