1) Read the suggested redbook. I got it in hardcopy so's that I can read it (wherever). 2) It has a section called the evolution of the RPG IV language covering the changes from V3R1 through V4R4. After that I'd read the Info center RPG manuals studying carefully the "How this version has changed" parts, for all manuals since. 3) As rusty as you are it might not be bad to bone up on the following manuals: http://store.midrange.com/details.php?ASIN=150834051X or http://store.midrange.com/details.php?ASIN=1583470034 http://store.midrange.com/details.php?ASIN=1882419707 And there's nothing sacrilegious about reading the IBM manuals. If you go to the info center at http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r2/ic2924/index.htm At the left, click on Programming, RPG and then start down the list with ILE Application Development Example http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r2/ic2924/books/c4156020.pdf ILE Concepts http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r2/ic2924/books/c4156066.pdf WebSphere Development Studio ILE RPG Programmers Guide http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r2/ic2924/books/c0925074.pdf WebSphere Development Studio ILE RPG Reference http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r2/ic2924/books/c0925084.pdf or http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r2/ic2924/books/c092508402.htm A lot of people on this list have said that the ILE Concepts is not a bad manual at all.
