This isn't really an RPG thread so this'll be my last post on the matter. The case I was involved in did not involve the original copyright holder at all. The original copyright holder wasn't even aware of the case! A disgruntled ex-employee turned in the company for using copyrighted code within their software without attribution or permission from the original copyright holder. That company is now defunct because they didn't go to the trouble to ask for permission and keep it on file. The amount of code was roughly the same as the strsep source we have seen in this thread. In the legal system, technicalities are everything. --buck
