James, you have said it right.  We need to be able to use inkjet printers,
but that does not mean we need to have Windows PCs.

I like your suggestion.  It certainly seems simpler to implement than

Ick. Trying to get rid of PCs I think will help people save money and
operate better than requiring them for printing. I never want to depend
on a PC to get my printing done.
 
How about making printer files compilable to postscript or PDF? For
example, you could have *SCS, *AFPDS, *PDF, and *PS. It wouldn't require
any changes to RPG. Let the AS/400 spooling system handle the things.
