Hate to argue with David - but as from V5R1 there is no need for Toolkit.
Java can call native RPG methods directly and very simply through JNI.
While I haven't done any definitive performance testing - once the JVM fires
up it seems pretty snappy.  The same support can be used in reverse by
prototyping Java methods in RPG.  This one however requires a lot more work
to ensure the objects used are cleaned up properly.
