In my limited experience subprocedure fields with the VARYING keyword,
adding VALUE or CONST does not produce the expected results. Maybe Barbara
could tell us why. If you get it to work, please be sure to share it with
the list.

time, so that is why I need to get it working with a literal.

pass it instead of the literal?
