What other IDEs exist for true RPGIV? I only know of 2; IBM's CODE (now included in Eclipse) and Cozzi's Code Studio. Bob Cagle IT Manager Lynk, Inc. I agree that it is slow but so are a lot of other IDE's out there. If you are going to be using a decent IDE you are going to need at least 512MB of RAM and at least a 1GHz non-Celeron processor. I made a cost justification to my boss (at the time) and told her how much time I spent waiting for things to happen on my slow PC. Within a couple weeks I had a hoppin' new system;-) I think it would be wise for all RPG programmers to at least try CODE out. It is free, it is fast (if you don't run it in WSDc), and will give you a more pleasurable programming experience (but maybe that is not important to you). My favorite thing about it is that I can see 60+ lines of code at a time! I agree that improvements need to be made, but a lot of those improvements are coming out in the next release of WSDc. And you're right, it is too slow! IBM really needs to improve upon that if they want all of us old green-screeners to switch! Back to the point - I have seen absolutely nothing wrong with /Free and have not seen or heard of any compiler errors. Bob Cagle IT Manager Lynk, Inc. Bzzzttt... wrong, try again ... CODE is dead, long live WDSC ... for now at least, until IBM comes up with the next replacement. Personally, I don't use CODE or WDSC for RPG coding on the 400 ... I don't like CODE's paradigm and WDSC is too slow (even on my 2ghz desktop machine). But we digress :) david _______________________________________________ This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l. _______________________________________________ This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
