Lads: Thanks for your input. I should have said-- I've been using free-format RPG for a little more than a year, and I *really* like it. I find the code to be more readable, and is much easier for newbies to maintain. The biggest surprise I encountered is that an string assignment operator (stringMe = 'ABCDEFG') is left-adjusted by default... and that was a pleasant surprise, frankly. I agree with what you've been saying as well. Programmers in the 400 community complain about how stubborn and mule-headed C and UNIX guys are... well, I've found that same attiude in the RPG programming community. A good number of RPG programmers embrace change with the same enthusiasim that I'd have embracing a moving truck. And yes, there is s bit of logic to the arguement "it's not tried-and-true". But, again, I haven't any physical evidence that there's any problems. There are differences of opinion, but there aren't any friggin' compiler bugs that I can find. Thanks! -Doc __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Sign up now. http://mailplus.yahoo.com
