I did a DSPMSGD MCH6801 and it definitely looks level 40 related. Do all compiles generate this message? If you were to remove that call to QCMDEXC would you still generate the error? What is your VRM? That might help limit down the search I went to http://www-912.ibm.com/n_dir/nas4apar.NSF/$searchform?Open&view and searched on MSGMCH6801 and got lots of hits.
