Thanks Carsten, that's exactly what I was looking for last night in the
Info Center.
I know about the API but was hoping the edit mask code didn't require
opening my Space Shuttle flight control systems and navigation
algorithms manual. <g> But alas it does, so I'll be call QECVTEC
followed by the MI instruction.

You could also use the QECCVTEC (Convert Edit Code to Mask) API to
generate the edit mask - and the LBEDIT builtin is also an option (see
"Bound program access" for EDIT following the link above) if you want to
call the EDIT function from RPG/IV.
