Hello Bob, It is indeed in the MI Functional Reference and can be found online here: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r1/ic2924/tstudio/tech_ref/mi/EDIT.htm You could also use the QECCVTEC (Convert Edit Code to Mask) API to generate the edit mask - and the LBEDIT builtin is also an option (see "Bound program access" for EDIT following the link above) if you want to call the EDIT function from RPG/IV.
