Hi Murali! Like most others, knowing more about your situation and frustration and hopes and goals makes it easier to understand your postings to the group. I would only add, that I think a lot of the antagonism you have generated was caused by _the_appearance_ that you were doing very little on your own to find the answers to your questions. If you truly have no access to an iSeries, then it can be understood that you wouldn't be able to corroborate things on your own. However, I got the impression from several of your posts that you do have access to a programming environment (witness: you were playing around with a subfile that wouldn't work, page up/page down etc.) In that case, it is frustrating for those of us who have had to fight tooth and nail and claw our way up the ladder using mostly our own resources to feel that someone is just seeking the easy answers without making a legitimate effort! Also, you can please forgive us if we are a little cynical when you write that you copied a subfile program from a book, but it doesn't work, why not? -- only for us to find out two posts later that you have been modifying the original program because you thought it was too long!!!!!! (I found that especially frustrating because so many of your previous posts proved that you are really struggling to understand subfiles overall, so why were you modifying the example program and how could you even properly judge what the correct length of the program should be!) Anyway, in the future you might find people are a little more sympathetic if you present to them a problem in the context of what you have tried to solve it already on your own. I.e., "I stepped through it in debug, I tried several other methods, I looked on this website and checked this resource, and, dagnabbit, I still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong! Anyone have any ideas to help?" Don't be afraid to ask "dumb questions" (the only true "dumb questions" are those that aren't asked, and I speak from experience I've posted some beauties!) -- just make sure you've truly tried to find the answers on your own, before you ask! You'll find we're a pretty tolerant group, since we've all been in those types of situations! Regards, Jeff
