No Buck,

Worst than that for me, the main subroutine for whole process not working
-no records in driving file.
 That chain / z-add never had a chance.
 So unbelievable that file wasn't
being populated. I never looked. :).

Hi Bill,
I think we have all been in those shoes.
I probably wasn't too clear.  You need to keep the Z-ADD as well as use the
I for initialise.  You need the Z-ADD because you can have:

initialise DS
good CHAIN
  AR has data 1
bad CHAIN
  AR still has data 1

I suspect you had
blank DS
bad CHAIN
  AR has decimal data error
