Hi Bill,
I think we have all been in those shoes.
I probably wasn't too clear.  You need to keep the Z-ADD as well as use the
I for initialise.  You need the Z-ADD because you can have:

initialise DS
good CHAIN
  AR has data 1
bad CHAIN
  AR still has data 1

I suspect you had
blank DS
bad CHAIN
  AR has decimal data error
