I had dealings with a large retailer recently who uses an Iseries and also some
app that uses an Oracle database. In order to
exchange files Iseries to Iseries, we had to hardcode a comma between each
field. When I asked them why, she said that was because
the Oracle guys read her database and they can only do it if the commas were in
there.

I couldn't send a true CSV, with a simple zero representing 0 qty, like 0, I
had to send 00000, and if an alpha field was defined as
20, and I only had 10 characters, I had to pad with blanks.
