For this to be the case, however, MI's Null pointers would have to be the same as RPG's Null pointers, are we sure this is the case? Take, for instance, DB Null fields. There is a bit value set saying it is a Null capable. On the other hand, in C NULL is usually defined either as 0, or as a pointer to memory address 0. Do we know for a fact how a Null pointer is handled in RPG? Do we know, for a fact, wither it is pointing to 0, or does it have a Null bit set? Adding to a null pointer is something that the system cant do and it has to tell, that is signal, the executing program of that condition.
