Okay, but keep this one in mind if this program needs to update more than
just the two.  It will be easier to add more files when all you need to do
is override.

That would work, but I was already passing a parm that told me which file
was being processed, so I just defined both files and did if/else logic for
all the i/o.

     How about creating a logical file over one of the files.  Name the
format the same as the other PF you are working with. Then just override
the
program PF to the other PF's LF.  I just tried this out and it worked for
me.
