Richard,
How about creating a logical file over one of the files. Name the
format the same as the other PF you are working with. Then just override the
program PF to the other PF's LF. I just tried this out and it worked for
me.

Thank you,
Matt Tyler

Subject: RE: LVLCHK(*NO) and record format names

Matt, the file already exists and is used in a ton of different places. I
would have never created separate DDS for a file that was an exact
duplicate of another. I assumed lvlchk(*no) would work because I never
tried it that way before.

Richard,
Create both files with the same format name, then when you override
the program with the other you will not get the LVLCHK (unless they are
different format designs). If you need both files in the same program
then
just use RPGIV to rename the record format of one.
---------------------------------
Jim, already had rename on the file spec - turns out whoever created the
file named the record format the same as the file as well. again, not very
thoughtful, but you work with whatcha got.

turns out, the program still tries to resolve to the external record name
when it writes to it. so, no such luck.

How about a simple rename(SOMERCD: SLSTRN) on the F spec?
---------------------------------

thanks anyway

Rick
