This is a build onto Mike Barton's answer... Remember that the *LDA used in the batch job is a COPY of that submitted from the interactive job. If you update the *LDA in the interactive job, submit the batch job, and then update the *LDA in the interactive job again, the batch job will not "see" the second update. I point this out to illustrate that the *LDA can't be used as a two way "communication" are between the batch and interactive job, as I've seen some mistakenly try. ==Kevin Message: 3 From: Mike.Barton@pinkroccade.co.uk To: rpg400-l@midrange.com Date: Tue, 18 Jun 2002 11:26:46 +0100 Subject: Re: Local Data Area Reply-To: rpg400-l@midrange.com >I have a question on Local Data Area. >I have 2 programs PGMA and PGMB. >PGMA accepts user inputs, updates Local Data area and submits PGMB for >batch processing. > >Can program PGMB be able to access the same Local Data area (*LDA) >values updated in PGMA? Siva yes, any job submitted will inherit the LDA from the parent job. What you must do however is in PGMA, perform an OUT operation as PGMA only updates the LDA when it ends - hence your problem.
