Thanks for expressing your views.
Whenever I am working with DTAQ etc., I always feel that IBM should have
provided additional features (the ones I had listed in my original mail).
Just like other similar commands. And anyway, it's a wish list. Mark will
be reviewing these before talking with IBM.
By the way, this is the last mail from my side on this topic, unless I
eagerly feel to respond to some other mail or send a new mail with new wish
list.

CL is never intended to do any real database processing as there are

better tools for this like RPG or Cobol. Especially since the ILE
concepts
became available in both CL and RPG languages, I see even less need

this.
If we would ask IBM to introduce file support in CL...we could also
ask them
to introduce arrays, use of C functions, datastructures, additional
data
types, ... to end up with a second RPG.
The moral is to use the right tool for the right job.

think twice about what you ask to IBM. Without blaming
anyone, just
consider the requested DTAQ stuff. For each of them there
are API's
available that allow you to program this yourself.
Requesting IBM time and effort to write this for you will
rule out

changes. These other changes might be things that can't be
written
today,
or for which no API's do exist at all.
If we ask things, we should look for things that are hard to
accomplish
today, or for which no generic part can be written.

* List the pending records in DTAQ
* Browse any specific record
* Delete any specific pending records
* Add a new record
Similarly I would like to see one additional option - Print
all the
messages
- in WRKMSGD.
Finally, handling of 2 files in CL - one PF and one DSPF -
but only
limited
keywords i.e. Input Primary (IP) kind of processing.
That's my wish list.
