Something like this? C Eval filename -------------------------------------------- Booth Martin MartinB@Goddard.edu 802-454-8315 x235 -------------------------------------------- -------Original Message------- From: rpg400-l@midrange.com Date: Monday, February 25, 2002 04:16:32 PM To: 'rpg400-l@midrange.com' Subject: Leading Zeros Hi all, I am developing a string that is used for the name of a file that I am creating in the IFS. I am using numeric values in the string and I don't want the leading zeros to be suppressed. For example: field1 field2 eval filename 00000010000012.txt -vs- 112.txt The file names are much more involved than the above and I don't want to do a move because I am guessing that there is something else that can be used. I have looked at %char, %editc, and %editw and none of them appear to do what I am asking. help. . . Aaron Bartell _______________________________________________
