For one thing the modern compilers don't generate MI - they generate w-code (which in turn goes to MI-prime which is not the "old" MI at all). Second point, many of the new functions are implemented as service program routines. Unlike the old compiler the RPG IV compiler practices what it preaches and generates many functions as calls to functions.
