Hi all,

I have been reading the 'Who know you could do that...' redbook and found
the chapter on externalizing I/O very interesting.

However, the examples provided are very limited to say the least, and only
talk about data retrieval, not updates/deletes.

Does anyone out there have a document/source example that goes beyond this,
or do you know a site where I can find more information?

More specifically, I would like to be able to implement a system where I
can, for instance, add a field to a customer file (the file used in almost
all programs), and only have to recompile the module accessing the file and
the program where the new field is used, without the need to compile
hundreds of other programs, only to avoid a level check.

Any help would be highly appreciated.
