Many moons ago, when I was in college studying Computer Science, I had to get my brain around the concept of an "Address" versus the "Contents of an Address". I spent many long sleepless hours in the Computer Center hallway trying to debug some program where I had confused the two. I did "get it" eventually though painfully. So when Pointers were introduced to RPG I immediately thought of these as being "Addresses" to memory locations. The "Contents of an Address" is the value at some memory location. These are the declared variables, etc. that we RPGers have always used and been comfortable with. The Pointer is the Address to a memory location, which in turn contains a Value that we can use. I'm not sure if this is of any value to anyone but if it helps one person understand pointers then I guess it's worth the bandwidth.
