Watch is not as friendly in ILE and I don't use it. To use put cursor on variable that you want to watch and press F17. To work with "Watched Variables" use F18. I believe that it will tell you how many times the variable has been changed. Not sure what to tell you about your exit program problem. I don't recall ever having the problem that you are reporting. You might try removing all of your breakpoints and hitting F12. Is your program manipulating QTEMP? I did the F6 to break and did the call before posting but was missing the F12. Since you've been so helpful, I have two more questions. 1)How can I do a watch (like I do in STRISDB) and 2)When I try to exit the program with an F3, I get an XSYSTEM and I have to end my job in WRKACTJOB. Thanks much. -----Original Message----- From: Lester S. Then hit F12 to return to your command line. Next call your program. Hope that helps. But I cannot use debug. I am trying to read the manual and have compiled it various ways, including: CRTBNDRPG PGM(MYLIB/RPGPGM) DFTACTGRP(*NO) DBGVIEW(*SOURCE)ACTGRP(*NEW) After playing around with this, I was able to view the source. But, when I try to debug it, I use: STRDBG (MYLIB/RPGPGM) At this point, I select F10 to step through the program (I normally use STRISDB). This is when it returns me to where I was before the STRDBG command. Can anyone shed any light? Your help is appreciated.
