I don't know if this would be useful to anyone else, but I would like to
be able to compile source code stored on the IFS.  Free form code is the
beginning of allowing this.  I would love to write code using any editor I
want (emacs comes to mind) and store the code in a directory structure
that makes sense for the particular project.

Maybe this is already possible (I hope)?
