Are you using a product to do your faxing?  If so, we use one that will do
the lookup of the fax number based on information in the spool file (the
customer number for example).  On your problem specifically, the only idea I
have it that you could write the data from the physical file it's in to
another physical file adding your fax info record as appropriate.
