If this is going in the FAQ, I think the option of using X'7D' should be there as well. Personally, I much prefer it -- double quotes can get confusing, especially when the quote that you want embedded in the string falls at the beginning or the end. Clearly differentiating the quotes that you use to surround literals from the quotes you are trying to embed in them makes the code easier to read (and debug), IMHO.
