Under V3R2 what I'd suggest is calling QUSRJOBI with format JOBI0400, which
among other things returns the job's date format and separator character.

Oh wait, what you really seem to care about is not the job date format, but
getting the date in *ISO format.  In that case either use format JOBI0300 to get
the job date in CYYMMDD format and convert to *ISO, or use QWCCVTDT if you want
the system (not job) date with an input format of *CURRENT and output format of
*YYMD.

For logging purposes I assume you'd want the system date, so use QWCCVTDT.
