Not unless you are going to rewrite history and declare that the selected base
date actually was a different day of the week under your calendar.

If the concern is for handling dates *prior* to the selected base date, then the
versions which handle a negative remainder account for that too.

What is inherently wrong with using a base date known to have been a specific
day?  (Assuming negative remainders are also handled.)
