Your procedure is returning a pointer to a local variable that has been
freed, because the procedure has finished.  Whatever this pointer points to
may have been reused, so it is predictable that your results are
unpredictable.

Thanks.  This makes perfect sense.

Why do you want your procedure to return a pointer?  Wouldn't it make more
sense to let the caller manage storage and pass a pointer to the procedure?

Could you elaborate a bit on this?  What I'm doing is getting a result set.
