Buck,

Why couldn't you do it without the eval opcode?  It would be harder without
it, but it could still be done, right?  In one of my programs that I write
to the IFS I write the data structure name and then all of the fields in the
structure get written out to the stream file.

If you mean the RPG language without the EVAL opcode, the answer is no.
If you mean the RPG language with EVAL, then yes.
Check out the archives under IFS, also the RPG Redbook "Who knew you could
do that..."
