Yes, I'm sure both of the major aS/400 trade rags have had comprehensive articles on OPNQRYF, which, IMO, is one of OS/400's jewels. An extremely flexible and powerful command. Check out AS400Network.com and MidrangeComputing.com and search their article indexes for OPNQRYF. Here's my take on the single quotes / double quotes issue you raised. I *ALWAYS* use double quotes to surround character data. Which is easier to read - #1 or #2?: #1: QRYSLT(' OHSTS *EQ %VALUES( '''A''' '''I''' '''C''' ) ') #2: QRYSLT(' OHSTS *EQ %VALUES( "A" "I" "C" ) ') Another thing, if I'm dealing with CL varibles in the QRYSLT, I always use QRYSLT( &QRYSLT ) and build the QRYSLT string in the variable beforehand. Since its been at least 10 years I've been using this method, I forget exactly the problem that it solves, but I seem to recall that numeric CL variables are a real PITA to deal with in QRYSLT.
