>> What? Nobody's in charge of the AS/iSeries/400/name/of/the/year? There undoubtedly is - but it doesn't help. You are making the assumption that there is a single 'IBM'. There isn't as such - rather there are a whole bunch of different divisions. The "AS/iSeries/400/name/of/the/year" and in particular the database and SQL pre-processor is from Rochester which in turn is part of server group which is part of ...... The RPG compiler on the other hand comes from Toronto which is part of the Software Division. This shouldn't affect us since we view it all as 'IBM' - but reality is different. Different groups have different priorities at different times. While we might not like it, but if it wasn't this way I suspect that we'd get _way_ less function in each release than we do. You sure as heck would never have seen RPG IV. In some ways it is amazing that they ever get the story straight. +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
