Thanks Simon.

I had missed starting the TCP DDM Server. That (eventually) did the trick. I
have a couple of small questions I might catch up with you about offline.

Thanks everyone else for your suggestions.

Subject: Re: DDM file on local system

R
Hello Stephen,

I have used the following definitions to successfully communicate within a
sisngle
system:

/* - Sending to the local machine can be accomplished */
/* by creating an INTRA device (V1R2M0). */
/*                                                                 */
/*           CRTDEVINTR DEV(MYSELF) RMTLOCNAME(APC400A) +          */
/*                        TEXT('Device for talking to myself.')    */
/*                                                                 */
/* Note:- You can use a generic RMTLOCNAME such as LOCAL */
/* and add an entry in the QAPPNRMT configuration */
/* list to point it at the local system. */
/*                                                                 */
/*           ADDCFGLE   TYPE(*APPNRMT)                             */
/*                 APPNRMTE((LOCAL *NETATR *NETATR LOCAL *NETATR)) */
/*                                                                 */
/* - or by matching the RMTLOCNAME and LCLLOCNAME parms */
/*           on the CRTDEVAPPC command (V2R2M0).                   */
/*                                                                 */
/*           CRTCTLAPPC CTLD(MYSELF) LINKTYPE(*LOCAL) +            */
/*                        TEXT('Controller for talking to myself.') */
/*           CRTDEVAPPC DEVD(MYSELF1) RMTLOCNAME(MYSELF2) +        */
/*                        LCLLOCNAME(MYSELF1) CTL(MYSELF)  +       */
/*                        APPN(*NO) SECURELOC(*YES) TEXT('Device + */
/* for talking to myself.') */
/*           CRTDEVAPPC DEVD(MYSELF2) RMTLOCNAME(MYSELF1) +        */
/*                        LCLLOCNAME(MYSELF2) CTL(MYSELF) +        */
/*                        APPN(*NO) SECURELOC(*YES) TEXT('Device + */
/* for talking to myself.') */
/*                                                                 */

Notice the device descriptions for the *LOCAL definiton say SECURELOC(*YES).
That
should fix your 0722 problem. You can also define a confiuration list entry to
indicate
a secure location.

Regarding the problem connecting on the loopback interface: Have you started
the TCP/IP
DDM server? Run STRTCPSVR *DDM to start it.

Regards,
Simon Coulter.
