Indicators can be tested for *on by using just the indicator, and for *off with NOT. And their value can be flipped with NOT. In my opinion, these constructs result in more readable code. Your example can be coded: C IF *IN21 * Switch goes *ON when it is *OFF and vice versa C EVAL Switch = not Switch C ENDIF Mel Rothman Anton Gombkötö wrote: > > There is another one: > > I think everybody coded a "switch" already for display files. > e.g. F21 turns something on and off. > > C IF *IN21 = *ON > C IF Switch = *ON > C EVAL Switch = *OFF > C ELSE > C EVAL Switch = *ON > C ENDIF > C ENDIF > > Now i do it like this: > > C IF *IN21 = *ON > * Switch goes *ON when it is *OFF and vice versa > C EVAL Switch = Switch = *OFF > C ENDIF > > As i know that it is uncommon, i include the comment line. > > 0.02 Euro > Anton Gombkötö > > At 11:53 02.11.00 -0800, you wrote: > > >Hey, I use that logic on my remapped SubfileDisplay Indicator to display > >subfiles. > > > >eval DisplaySubfile = RRN > 0 > > > >I thought it was weird at the time, but it does make since... > > > >tim > >-----Original Message----- From: Jim Langston > >[SMTP:jimlangston@conexfreight.com] Sent: Thursday, November 02, 2000 > >10:57 AM To: RPG400-L@midrange.com Subject: Re: Is this the > >Free-Format that we asked for? > > > >snip.. > > > >Nothing destroys a programs maintainability as quickly as shortcuts. > > > >Try this one I've seen. > > > >A = (B = C) > > > >Hint: A is boolean. > +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
