Well, there is the little thing about garbage data.  The main use of testn
I've seen is validating stuff parsed out of a text file.  Chances are that
'12G' or, for that matter, '12J' is not a valid number if it comes from
say,
an ASCII source.  I've received support calls at 2AM on this sort of thing,
and it's not fun
