Hmm... according to the conversation on this topic, it seems I was wrong in my knowledge. I think I really understand the 15,5 problem now, and if things are as stated, I do NOT have a problem at all. According to what everyone is telling me, I can go ahead and declare my variables as the proper length in my display file DDS of type numeric, and go ahead and pass them to my RPG program as such and I won't have a problem at all. I guess the thing I didn't understand was, this 15,5 problem occurs with numeric constants, not variables. I seem to recall doing so testing in the past and finding this not to be the case, but everyone assures me that my program should work without converting them to a passable type. I'll try it again and see what happens. And, no, I do not only use alpha fields in my display screens. What I am doing in this program in question is declaring them as numeric, then converting them to character fields declared in the CL, then passing the character fields to the RPG program. The RPG program has them declared as numeric, but since CL doesn't check the parameters passed to an RPG program, nor does the RPG program, everything works will in this case, it's just a major hassle converting them. Something I would much rather not have to do. As I said, going back to testing this problem and seeing when, exactly, it occurs.
